As great as season 1 of The Last of Us was, it’ll be a while before we see Joel and Ellie again. This is what a good adaptation looks like. It wouldn’t be shocking if the producers of comic book movies and shows hired members of its creative team in the future, or found another way to emulate its success. Overall, The Last of Us could now be the blueprint on how to take a video game and adapt it for a TV show. Fans of the game even got to see Ellie’s mother – something the source material also didn’t have.

Kathleen’s character didn’t exist in the game she was created specifically for HBO and was an unforgettable addition to it. They added to it.įrank and Bill’s relationship was more than just Bill being cranky. The creative team didn’t just take the source material and leave it as is.
